“Moon Over Carolina” set for Saturday at the Republic

“Lenses by Troi” will sponsor a free, live musical fashion photo-shoot titled “MOON OVER CAROLINA,” Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Republic Bar and Lounge on 353 W. Main St. beginning at 1 p.m.

DC based fashion photographer Troy Hansley says he is trying to expand into North Carolina and likes Durham. He says his showcases raise money for charities and promote local area models “who otherwise wouldn’t get an opportunity,” while promoting local businesses and products.

Saturday’s event, with free admission, is a “showcase meet and greet,” Troy says, with special guests, a hip hop group from DC calling themselves the “Capital Hustlers.”

“But don’t let the name scare you,” Troy says. “They’re hustling positive messages, not violence and sex and stuff.”

Co sponsors for the event are Sassywear Clothing of Durham, (Regina Jones, owner) , and a Formal Affair Limo Service of Durham

Professional models featured include “Shayla” of New Jersey, and Myisha Carter, a local model who attends the Art Institute.

Troy says his events in the past have generated funds to support cancer research and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club.
