The 22nd annual Bull Durham Blues Festival took place Sept/ 11-12. The festival benefits the St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation in addition to perpetuating the genre of blues music and the African-American experience. On Friday Sept. 11, the festival kicked off the music at the Hayti Heritage Center where three artists performed acoustic sets. On Saturday, festivities shifted to the Durham Athletic Park and the music lasted for 12 hours.
VOICE videographer Brad Piland was there to record the sights, sounds and soul from Friday night’s show.
