About Helena Florez

Helena Florez is a junior from Henderson, NC, originally from Bogotá Colombia, majoring in Media and Journalism with a concentration in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Entrepreneurship at UNC Chapel Hill. Helena serves as a reporter for The Durham Voice, where she is especially interested in how storytelling, branding and strategy intersect while exploring the ways media can shape culture and community! She serves as Co-Director of Marketing for the Honors Carolina Student Association, where she designs promotional materials and oversees event coverage for major campus initiatives, and is excited to take her love of marketing and advertising into the world of journalism. A fun fact about her is that she loves Arepas (a traditional Colombian dish) and enjoys making them for her friends!
